Meet our Planning & Zoning Member

Mike Cardin                                    896-1229               email:  michaeljcardin@comcast.net
“As a life-long Tolland resident, I've watched our town grow in an uncontrolled manner, threatening the quality of life we value. On the Planning and Zoning Commission I can help ensure well-thought out planning that addresses the needs of our community. As Tolland’s former Representative at the state Capitol, I am experienced in governance and am prepared to utilize these skills locally to benefit our town.”

Vincent Avino                                    872-4375                  email:  vavino@sbcglobal.net
“I have been on the Zoning Board of Appeals since 2001. During my tenure, the ZBA has assisted many Tolland residents undertake appropriate property improvements not otherwise permitted under zoning regulations. Each request for a variance is evaluated independently, considering the location of the house, land topography, the presence of ledge, and other restrictions associated with the lay of the land. It has been my pleasure to assist property owners better utilize their property and to serve Tolland in this
position.”

Peggy Boyajian                                 871-1933                  email:  pegboyajian@yahoo.com
“I have served on the Zoning Board of Appeals for two four-year terms. Although the ZBA might seem to be an unpretentious Board, the results of the applications have an immediate affect on the people involved. Most applications affect family homes, surroundings and
neighborhoods, and the results of ZBA action are immediately beneficial to the homeowners. I enjoy helping my neighbors in Tolland use their land while maintaining guidelines that preserve the character of our town.”

“I moved to Tolland five years ago from Park City, Utah. Park City experienced explosive growth over the 10 years that I lived there, culminating in the 2002 Winter Olympics. I was personally involved in growth planning committees on both the historic conservation
and local planning levels. I see Tolland facing many of the same challenges and I feel my experience and education in land use planning will be a valuable asset as we guide Tolland's growth into the future.”
