Welcome to the Tolland Democrat’s website!  We strive to serve our community by supporting issues that matter to you: education, responsible growth, open space, and fiscal responsibility.

The local voters overwhelmingly supported the Democratic team in the 2007 elections and we are honored to fill 15 of  the 26 elected positions on local boards.  Winning the campaign was just the first step to our commitment to the town.  Since November we have put our campaign promises into action by presenting a fiscally responsible budget referendum in May, supporting education by reopening the old high school, brought much needed money to the BoE by renting the old high school to a movie production company, and continuing to support the purchase of land for open space. 

We pride ourselves as the party that openly communicates and listens to the townspeople.  Fred Daniels, Town Council Chair, immediately restored board liaisons to ensure the Town Council knew what issues the Board of Education, Planning and Zoning Commission, and other commissions were working on.  He also instituted a Town Council hour that is held once a month at the Tolland Library so people can stop by and ask questions or put forth ideas for improvements. 

We still have many challenges ahead of us and we look forward to working together with the community to keep Tolland a great place to call home.  Economic development, infrastructure improvements to roads and sewers, and continuing to provide excellent education are just some of the challenges ahead of us.

If you would like to get involved with the Tolland Democrats, we meet monthly on the first Thursday of the month at the Community Room at Town Hall.  Our meetings begin at 7:30.  We would love to see you there!
